We are currently looking for an Aquatic Biologist that has 5 to 10 years of environmental permitting and monitoring experience on projects in and around aquatic habitats to join our growing team of dedicated professionals.
Responsibilities will include supporting project managers on environmental permitting and compliance monitoring projects to plan and complete field assessments by qualified professionals, manage client deliverable and task assignments and help prepare technical reports and deliverables for clients.
Types of projects may include construction, demolition and dredging of marine and / or freshwater sites and adjacent upland areas in the greater Vancouver region, throughout British Columbia and possibly in other provinces or territories.
The successful candidate will be expected to understand regulatory processes and required technical inputs for approvals and reviews related to the Fisheries Act, Water Sustainability Act and other key legislation for work in and around water in British Columbia. They will have demonstrable experience scoping project tasks with assistance from senior professionals and be capable of preparing high-quality deliverables for senior review on time and on budget.
The successful candidate is expected to be well-organized, solution-oriented and be able to communicate professionally and effectively to colleagues, clients, regulatory agencies and others as required. They will be capable of managing multiple tasks and assignments and have excellent attention to detail for identifying and tracking requirements from permits, management plans and contract requirements.
Specific training, education and performance requirements include :
- A valid drivers license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
- Hold a B.Sc. degree or higher.
- Registered as a Registered Professional Biologist (RPBIO), or pending applicaiton
- Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions, out of town and weekends on occasion.
