As a key member of the Canadian Leadership Team, the Financial Controller will be critical to the strategic and operational development of the finance function during the start-up and ramp-up of Hilton Foods Canada.

This role is critical in building a high‑performing, engaged, and inclusive workforce that supports the company’s growth and operational excellence.

This role is at the heart of driving our business capability and building a fantastic environment for all our colleagues.

This is a role in which you can influence, bring new ideas and develop the Hilton Foods Canada operation in our organisation. You will bring a passion for continually improving operational performance and people capability on our brand‑new site in Canada.

Purpose of the role

Provide financial support to the Managing Director in the provision of all financial reporting and management of the accounting function. Provide critical financial analysis and partner other Senior Management in order to understand their department’s financial performance and support their objectives to deliver profitable growth of the business.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain the integrity of the financial systems and records
  • Support implementation and maintenance of accounting & reporting systems that deliver accurate & timely financial information. Recommend other appropriate systems to improve quality of financial information
  • Manage month‑end close and produce accurate, timely monthly management accounts and reports including consolidated accounts
  • Provide critical analysis of material variances against budget, highlighting main drivers of the variances and recommended course of action
  • Manage financial relationship with customer regarding monthly performance KPIs, budgets forecasts etc
  • Manage the cashflow windshield of the business highlighting potential concerns and recommend course of action
  • Manage the Budget & Forecasts process including capex
  • Manage payroll, and timely submission of Tax & HST returns and liabilities
  • Manage preparation and delivery of statutory accounts and any internal or external audit requirements
  • Working with group finance, manage, document and maintain all accounting policies & procedures including delegation of authority, capex approval
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and suggestions for how costs can be better optimised to deliver quality support to the business in support of business strategy and operations
  • Manage and support finance team to deliver best in class service. Mentor, coach finance staff and organise appropriate training elegido
  • Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of projects including revenue recognition and WIP calculations

Key Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Applicable Accounting Qualification – CPA
  • Previous FP&A experience
  • Strong understanding of Finance systems & processes
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Managing finance teams
  • Strong food manufacturing background
  • Experience with standard cost accounting in food processing operations
  • Good experience of SAP and / or SAP S / 4HANA
  • Excellent team player and confident stakeholder manager
