Description

:

Who We Are:

At Arterra Wines Canada, we aim to inspire the simple joys of life, and we come to work every day with a shared passion to build wine brands people love. As a pioneer in the Canadian wine industry with 150 years of experience, our success is driven by our people. We work together with integrity and pride, striving to reach our fullest potential every day, and we’re looking for people who do the same.

We are undergoing a pivotal transformation, actively in search of dynamic individuals poised to make a substantial impact within our ever-evolving organization. Are you someone who embraces change and excels in diverse roles that span across various functions? If so, we look forward to hearing from you!

Role Summary:

This role provides strategic financial leadership to the Supply Chain organization, enabling optimized operations, improved processes, and disciplined cost management. The Senior Manager, Operations Finance will apply deep Operations Finance expertise to interpret results, uncover drivers of performance, and shape forward-looking recommendations.

Acting as the bridge between Operations, Controllership, and the broader Finance team, this role requires a leader who can simplify complex issues, deliver clear insights and compelling narratives, and influence decisions that drive operational excellence and long-term value creation. The role is also responsible for strengthening process discipline, leveraging systems more effectively, and designing improved reporting and planning capabilities that enhance the organization’s decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Provide thought leadership that shapes the future direction of the Operations Finance function, embedding continuous improvement and modern, system-enabled processes.

  • Deliver strategic insights that simplify complex operational and cost drivers, enabling senior leaders to understand trade-offs and make informed decisions across the supply chain.

  • Act as the financial leader for plant controllership, ensuring transparency of performance, strong governance, and alignment with operational priorities.

  • Lead financial analysis for footprint optimization, Design-to-Value initiatives, productivity initiatives, supply strategy, and other complex business cases—translating analytical findings into clear, actionable narratives for executive decision-making.

  • Support operations-related components of M&A activity, with expertise in costing, capital requirements, viticulture, and operational integration.

Capital

  • Scrutinize productivity-driven CapEx with a value creation lens, ensuring strong ROI, robust business cases, and alignment with long-term strategy.

  • Evaluate the operational implications of decisions on inventory (DIO) and accounts payable (DPO), connecting operational execution to financial outcomes.

  • Lead company-wide inventory reporting, accuracy, and governance, strengthening systems and processes to reduce complexity and improve reliability.

  • Partner with Controllership to maintain strong compliance, controls, and accounting accuracy.

Finance Excellence & Insight Leadership

  • Provide clear cost visibility and insight to operational leaders, using strong analytical thinking and structured storytelling to highlight what matters and why.

  • Drive clarity, accountability, and forecasting excellence across COGS, leveraging systems and tools to improve accuracy, bias detection, and reporting efficiency.

  • Proactively evaluate the P&L, cash flow, and working capital impacts of operational decisions, articulating trade-offs and risk/opportunity scenarios in a simplified, decision-ready format.

  • Strengthen processes, documentation, and training to ensure scalable, repeatable finance practices.

  • Lead cross-functional project teams, applying Operations Finance expertise to identify opportunities, benchmark performance, challenge assumptions, and convert analytics into actionable plans.

  • Build improved reporting and analytics by leveraging JDE/JDA/Hyperion and other systems more effectively.

Talent Development

  • Coach and develop a team of Managers and Senior Financial Analysts, fostering a culture of critical thinking, curiosity, and operational understanding.

  • Lead by example, promoting a positive and performance-focused team environment that values continuous learning and smart simplification.

What You Bring:

  • 8+ years of progressive Finance experience, including significant exposure to Operations Finance, Supply Chain Finance, or Plant Finance.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex operational and financial data into clear business insights and recommendations.

  • Experience simplifying processes, improving reporting systems, and designing new ways of working.

  • 2+ years of people leadership experience, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.

  • Experience using JDE, JDA, Hyperion, or similar ERP/financial planning systems to enhance reporting and analytics.

  • Experience using Power BI or Tableau is an asset

  • Exposure to winemaking or viticulture is an asset.

  • MBA/CPA designation

  • WSET or similar wine education of winemaking and viticulture

What We Offer:

  • Hybrid work model, allowing employees to balance remote and in-office work.

  • Competitive Salary and Bonus.

  • Benefits and Pension Plan.

  • Product Allowances.

  • Training & Development Programs.

  • Tuition Reimbursement.

  • Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

  • A chance to explore and learn more about the Wine industry.
