Position Overview

The Associate Finance Manager, Sales Governance & Capabilities position at General Mills Canada Corporation is responsible for the Governance and Financial Controls in the Sales Organization, and also provides financial management and oversight over the Finance tools & capabilities. In addition, this role is delivers financial leadership & partnership for Canada Cost-to-Serve (CTS).

This Canadian role is uniquely positioned to demonstrate leadership with a strong focus on controls and allows for partnership with senior leaders throughout the organization. The Associate Finance Manager partners with our North American Controls Team to champion a gold-standard controls environment while enabling integrity within our core sales processes through leadership across the sales organization. Success in the role requires strong partnership with the Financial Shared Services (FSS) organization, playing both a leadership role and a liaison between FSS and the Sales Finance organization.

This role offers great people management experience to foster career growth as it manages one direct report, has dotted-line relationships with four Sales Finance Analysts, and acts as the right-hand to the Senior Finance Manager of Sales.

Role Accountabilities

  • Lead and Champion a Strong Controls Environment across all Canadian Sales Teams; leading with integrity, ensuring focus on consistent behaviors, strong forecast accuracy, trade management while heightening stakeholder education between the P&L and Balance Sheet
  • Advance and enhance Sales Finance Tools & Capabilities while ensuring the timely & accurate delivery of Reporting Tools through oversight of the FSS Sales Finance Team
  • Develop & drive standardization initiatives across the Canada Sales space to optimize efforts and impact across the broader sales finance organization.
  • Manage clear communications to the broader Sales, Sales Finance, and FSS organizations on standard Governance & Controls key timelines, and annual expectations.
  • Drive prompt & timely action within the Sales Organization to alleviate and reduce customer invalid deductions & historical audits.
  • Steward the consolidation and collaboration of Canada-centric initiatives across the Sales Finance Organization; driving focus on trade reconciliation, managing Prior Year Accrual True-Ups, Price Action Timeline Setting, etc.
  • Play a key leadership and liaison role on Internal and External audits through partnership with Audit leads and internal teams to deliver objectives
  • Active role in Manager Group forum for the Canada Finance Team, Knowing All Organizational Players while playing a coaching role for our broader One Finance Team.

  • Strategically partner to find innovative solutions for Cost-to-Serve space to drive while championing progress organizationally on Total Customer Investments
  • Energize and develop team members by providing ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and identifying training & development opportunities.

Qualifications :

Professional Requirements and Experience :

  • A university degree in Finance or Business Administration, CPA or MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Finance, preferably in CPG
  • Financial Close, Forecasting, and Planning experience
  • Self-starter with the ability to autonomously lead and manage projects involving a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and apply strategic business solutions and partner to deliver results
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships at all levels and across all functions; ability to effectively communicate and influence all levels across the organization.
  • People Management experience is an asset
  • Experience working with audit, exposure / experience with accounting controls preferred
