This position is responsible for loading, unloading, and transporting goods to and from our vendors and retail locations ensuring alignment with all MTO regulations, traffic laws, and Food Safety standards. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers, and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.
Major Responsibilities :
Transport goods between our vendors, warehouses, and retail locations.
Complete driver hours of service (HOS) logs and pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
Operate and maintain assets in a safe, clean, and efficient manner following government regulations, traffic laws, and Farm Boy policies.
Verifies weight and count of products for preparation of bill of lading (BOL) paperwork.
Unload and load skids for receiving and shipping purposes.
Sort products in appropriate temperature staging areas, handling all products with maximum care to minimize damage and / or spoilage.
Strict adhere to all Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures and policies to ensure safety of staff, products, and surroundings.
Must wear personal protective equipment at all times as required by Farm Boy’s Health & Safety policies and work in a manner to protect self and colleagues from industrial disease or injury.
Execute correct and safe procedures for moving and stacking products using equipment including walkies, forklifts, dock plates, etc.
Reports any dangerous situations to the Supervisor / Transportation Coordinator for corrective action such as; incorrect stacking of pallets, physical damage to the building, trucks, or work tools etc.,
As required, bring issues with product quality or suppliers directly to the attention of the Warehouse Management team for follow-up and resolution.
Maintain all work areas, ensuring they are free of potential hazards that could cause an accident.
Maintains equipment as required.
Execute the correct procedures for reporting “safety” incidents.
May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications
Requires a minimum of 2 years of DZ driving experience, a valid DZ license (Class 1 or A), with a clean driving record check.
Previous warehouse operation and equipment experience would be considered an asset.
Ability to work from directives with little supervision.
Superior standards of cleanliness and service.
Superior time management and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to recognize cleaning requirements and equipment maintenance.
Fluency in both official languages shall be considered an asset.
Flexible schedule, including afternoons, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work & Sensory Environment :
Unavoidable exposure to dangerous or unpleasant environmental elements such as noise, dirt, dust, vibration and extreme temperatures.
Prolonged exposure to cool, damp working conditions.
Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
Required to wear cumbersome protective clothing or equipment during shift.
Required to lift, carry or handle heavy objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
Must be capable of climbing, reaching, lifting, twisting and bending for prolonged periods of time.
