Job Title: Production Worker

Job Description

The Production Worker operates and monitors high-speed production equipment on the manufacturing floor, starting primarily on labelling or packaging machines and progressively learning more technical processes such as bottle blowing and material handling with a sit-down counterbalance forklift. This role focuses on keeping production lines running smoothly, performing basic safety and maintenance checks, and supporting overall product quality in a fast-paced, clean, and safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various production machines on the manufacturing floor, starting with labelling and packaging equipment and expanding to more technical machinery as training progresses.
  • Run the bottle blower machine to form plastic bottles, ensuring the hopper remains filled with plastic bottles and the machine operates efficiently throughout the shift.
  • Operate the fill/labeler machine to fill bottles with water and apply labels accurately, monitoring the process to maintain consistent quality.
  • Test and record water pH levels throughout the day to ensure product quality standards are met.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds overhead 10–15 times per shift as part of routine machine operation and material handling tasks.
  • Operate the packaging machine to pack bottles into correct pack sizes, carefully watching for jams and resolving them promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Restock label rolls and other consumables on the machines to prevent interruptions in production.
  • Continuously monitor assigned production line and equipment, listening for alarms and watching for irregularities that may indicate mechanical or process issues.
  • Perform routine safety and basic maintenance checks on equipment, determining whether issues can be fixed on the spot or need to be escalated to the maintenance team.
  • Participate in weekly facility sanitation activities, including foam and sprayer cleaning processes (CIP), to maintain a clean and hygienic production environment.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced setting where each machine can run between 300,000 and 600,000 bottles per day, maintaining focus and attention to detail.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times while on the production floor.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, maintenance, and leadership regarding equipment status, quality concerns, and production issues.
  • Support general material handling tasks within the facility and, once trained, assist with forklift operations using a sit-down counterbalance forklift.
  • Multi-task across different production activities as required, adjusting to shifting priorities and line needs during the shift.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of experience working in a fast-paced environment such as manufacturing, warehouse, fast food, or general labor.
  • Previous manufacturing experience, with food manufacturing experience considered especially relevant.
  • Experience working in roles that required effective multi-tasking and managing several tasks at once.
  • Comfortable performing general labor tasks, including packing, loading, and repetitive manual work.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25–30 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds overhead multiple times per shift.
  • Good computer skills to operate and monitor automated production equipment and input basic data.
  • Experience with sit-down counterbalance forklift (SDCB FL) operations or strong willingness to train on this equipment.
  • Strong safety-oriented mindset and commitment to following safety procedures and guidelines.
  • High attention to detail to monitor machines, detect issues, and maintain product quality.
  • Good communication skills to interact with team members and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Quick learning ability to pick up new processes, equipment, and procedures in a dynamic production environment.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve minor equipment or process issues during production.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating production machinery such as bottle blowers, fillers, labelers, or packaging equipment is an asset.
  • Experience in food or beverage manufacturing is a strong advantage due to familiarity with quality and sanitation standards.
  • Comfort working with cleaning chemicals, foam systems, and sprayers as part of CIP sanitation processes.
  • Ability to remain focused and accurate while working around high-speed equipment producing large daily volumes.
  • Willingness to work overtime when available to support production demands.
  • Interest in long-term career growth within a large organization that offers opportunities to advance into more experienced or technical roles.

Why Work Here?

You join a clean, modern facility that prioritizes safety and fosters a friendly, supportive culture. Comprehensive benefits include strong medical and dental coverage with premiums fully covered, a yearly allowance toward glasses, and a health savings account to offset out-of-pocket health expenses. You enjoy unlimited water while working, annual social events such as a golf tournament and holiday party, and yearly pay increases tied to performance reviews. The organization offers overtime opportunities, annual performance-based bonuses, and clear pathways for career growth within a large, established company where many leaders have advanced from frontline roles.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, modern production facility that has been operating for approximately 30 years and emphasizes safety as the top priority. The environment is fast-paced and noisy, with temperature-controlled conditions that are comfortable but not refrigerated, supported by air conditioning. Each shift typically includes around 20 team members, with balanced representation in leadership and a collaborative culture. You work with high-speed production lines where machines can run between 300,000 and 600,000 bottles per day, using automated equipment such as bottle blowers, fillers, labelers, packaging machines, and a sit-down counterbalance forklift. The facility requires strict adherence to dress code and safety standards: closed-toe, slip-resistant safety footwear is required, and jewelry and loose clothing are not permitted. The company provides personal protective equipment including ear plugs, hairnets or beard nets, bump caps, and safety glasses. The position follows a defined shift schedule with the potential for overtime, and contract terms initially follow a rolling three-month arrangement with strong potential for extension and eventual permanent employment based on performance and fit.
