What you’ll do :
- Perform periodic reviews of local Co-op Department Operating Statements to monitor the benefits to salary expense ratio for Co-ops on People Forward. Follow up with the Payroll Analyst where benefits exceed budgeted percentage of salaries.
- Work closely with the Manager, Payroll Services, Supervisor, Payroll Services, Accounting Analyst and Senior Payroll Associates to prepare the FCL quarterly working papers (Lead Sheets) for Payroll Balance Sheet Accounts. Ensure payroll balance sheet accounts are reconciled each month and outstanding amounts are cleared before the end of the following month.
- Track and monitor the FCL / CEC actual benefits expense data for each pay period and provide to the Manager, Total Rewards and Director, Corporate Accounting for budgeting purposes and analysis. Analyze and investigate variances that exceed the budgeted benefits to salary ratio.
- Reconcile payroll balance sheet accounts for FCL and Reporting Retails, prepare required journal entries in JD Edwards and Mainframe financial systems.
- Prepare payroll year-end working papers for Reporting Retails to meet audit and AGM deadlines.
- Work closely with local Co-op payroll / accounting practitioners, FCL retail accounting and corporate accounting teams to resolve reconciliation issues in preparation of working papers. Escalate complex issues to Payroll Accounting Analyst and Manager, Payroll Services.
- Perform per pay period review of finalized charge sheets against applicable general ledger accounts to identify variances. Communicate discrepancies found on a biweekly basis to the Payroll Supervisor and Payroll Accounting Analyst for resolution within the next payroll cycle. Issues that remain unresolved should be escalated to manager, payroll services.
- Other duties as required.
