Mission

Head & Hands envisions a society where all youth are participants and are inspired by the endless possibilities available to them. Our mission is to work with youth to promote their physical and mental well-being. Our approach is preventative, non-judgmental, and holistic with a fundamental commitment to providing an environment that welcomes youth without discrimination. We facilitate social change and the empowerment of youth based on their current needs within our community and society at large.

About Head & Hands

The Head & Hands hierarchy model is based on a collaborative leadership structure, with strong encouragement to consult and collaborate amongst staff.

As an organization that works to facilitate social change and the empowerment of diverse communities of youth, Head & Hands recognizes that experiencing marginalization and oppression often presents challenges, but also informs valuable skills and perspectives. We encourage BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour), people with disabilities, women, Two-Spirit and queer people, trans people, and other candidates who experience marginalization to apply to this position and to self-identify when you apply, if you choose.

We are aware that all work environments can be directly impacted by all forms of oppression and that we as an employer are capable of replicating these inequities in our workplace. We are actively working to address these issues within our organization. Throughout this process, we remain committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment for all our employees. We value transparency and are open to constructive discussions with candidates about our ongoing efforts and the actions we are taking to improve working conditions in a meaningful and sustainable way.

About the Executive Director (E.D) Position

Our Executive Director works at the centre of a team to work towards Head & Hands’ youth empowerment mission and create lasting social change. They oversee the health of the organization in a way that is consistent with our values of prevention, inclusivity, inclusion, non-judgement, harm reduction, and youth empowerment. They work collaboratively alongside a team to cultivate a clear strategic vision for the organization, and lead Head & Hands’ staff, Board of Directors, and membership in realizing that vision through our ongoing work.

The Executive Director ensures the governance of Head & Hands by serving on the Board of Directors as a voting member, and supporting this group in fostering active engagement among all Board members. As central administrative coordinator, the Executive Director in collaboration with the Director of Funding & Development (DFD) and the Director of Finances is responsible for the financial health of the organization (fundraising, financial management, and budgeting).
