KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Manager, Public Works & Engineering, the Municipal Engineer is responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation and reporting of infrastructure, municipal services and programs according to the City's short and long term strategic objectives. This position supports and acts as a project manager on multi-million-dollar capital projects. This position will focus on transportation items including, but not limited to, development of the City' s Transportation Master Plan, oversight of the Yellowknife Transit System, and investigation of sign requests.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a University degree in Engineering, along with a minimum of 4 years' experience in Engineering or a related field. Experience with a focus on transportation will be preferred. The incumbent must be registered as a P. Eng. With a Canadian Regulatory / Licensing Association, as well as be a member in good standing of the Professional Asso ciation. A valid NWT Class 5 Driver's license is also required.
The incumbent must be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office suite including software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; as well as be experienced with AutoCAD, and Civil 3D. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate an ability to build strong relationships quickly with internal and external stakeholders, to establish effective channels of communication and a collaborative working relationship. Strong communication skills are required, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information in an appealing and easy to understand manner, both verbally and in writing.
SALARY
The City of Yellowknife offers a starting annual salary of $113,650, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan, and monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450.
