Are you currently enrolled in post-secondary education related to Planning and interested in getting hands on experience? Are you a self starter with excellent customer service, organizational and problem solving skills? If so, we want you on our Development & Engineering Services team!
As the successful candidate, you will provide technical support for the implementation of environmental and regional planning program initiatives as well as assist with planning duties such as coordinating meetings, processing applications, researching information and assisting with public inquiries.
You will assist Planning staff by :
- Providing technical support in the development and implementation of current environmental planning programs and future initiatives.
- Reviewing environmental Development Permits and assessments and drafting Regional Board reports.
- Reviewing Building Permit applications for environmental requirements in coordination with Inspection Services.
- Liaising with provincial ministries, consultants, and other government agencies to ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
- Revamping development permit application forms, brochures, and tracking spreadsheets for consistency and efficiency.
- Closing open and outstanding Development Permits.
- Interpreting and managing ecosystem information and summarizing existing data, reports, and maps pertaining to Central Okanagan inventories and current Development Permit applications.
- Responding to public inquiries related to Environmental Development Permit Areas and land-use planning.
- Providing assistance to the Environmental Planner.
- Other related duties as assigned.
To be eligible for this position, you must be currently enrolled and returning in the Fall of 2025 to a post-secondary educational program related to Planning. You will have the ability to prepare reports, and make presentations, have strong proficiency in MS office as well as excellent time management and customer service skills. You will be an organized, self-starter with the ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment. A Driver's Abstract with record of safe driving is required.
The positions will commence May 5, 2025 and conclude August 22, 2025 and the hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 8 : 00am to 4 : 00pm. We offer a wage of $22.46 per hour plus 4% in lieu.
