Job description
Adecco is currently hiring Water & Wastewater Operators / Supervisors (Level 1+) for full-time opportunities based in Goderich, ON. This role is ideal for licensed and safety-focused professionals looking to contribute to the efficient operation of water and wastewater systems across Ontario.
As a Water & Wastewater Operator / Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation and maintenance of treatment and distribution systems. You will be responsible for monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining regulatory standards while supporting continuous improvement across operations.
  • Pay Rate: $26.00 - $40.00/hour (based on certification level)
  • Location: Goderich, ON
  • Schedule: Full-time, with on-call rotation (evenings, weekends, and holidays as required)
  • Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily operational and maintenance tasks including inspections, system monitoring, housekeeping, and preventative maintenance
  • Operate and maintain water treatment, wastewater treatment, and distribution systems across multiple facilities
  • Monitor system performance and make adjustments to optimize efficiency and compliance
  • Troubleshoot equipment and system issues independently and perform necessary repairs
  • Collect, track, and manage water and wastewater samples in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Conduct in-house laboratory testing using appropriate tools and instrumentation
  • Interpret technical documentation such as PFDs, P&IDs, and SOPs to support operations
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation in compliance with regulations
  • Support commissioning and startup activities for new facilities and systems
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, regulatory bodies, and the public
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, approvals, and safety standards
  • Participate in scheduled on-call rotations and respond to operational needs as required
  • Travel between sites and work in varying weather and environmental conditions
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment, including proper use of PPE
Requirements
  • Valid Ontario Water and Wastewater Operator certifications (Level 1 or higher) in one or more of the following:
    Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Water Distribution and Supply, Wastewater Collection
  • Valid Ontario driver's license (G or G2) with a clean driving record; access to a reliable vehicle required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using tools and equipment
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
  • Understanding of water and wastewater systems, processes, and technologies
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations (e.g., Safe Drinking Water Act, OHSA)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within the role
  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
