Reporting to the Production Manager, the Team Lead will oversee the daily operations of our Oriented Strand Board (OSB) mill. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing production processes, ensuring safety standards, maintaining product quality, and leading a team of operators to achieve production goals.

  • What You Will Be Doing

  • Supervise, lead and coach a team of operators and technicians to foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations and updates
  • Identify training needs and facilitate skill development programs to enhance team capabilities and effectiveness
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process reliability, product quality, and overall mill performance
  • Ensure compliance with product specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality control standards through regular inspections, testing, and process audits.
  • Analyze process data, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and collaborate with maintenance personnel to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production output, efficiency, and quality, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager and other department leads to optimize production efficiency, minimize downtime, and resolve operational challenges
  • Drive initiatives to reduce waste, optimize raw material usage, and improve energy efficiency in alignment with environmental sustainability goals.
  • Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all production activities
  • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies, conducting safety training, and leading incident investigations as necessary
  • What You Need To Be Successful

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment or similar heavy industrial setting
  • Would Be Considered An Asset

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise in process optimization, troubleshooting equipment, and lean manufacturing principles
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve challenging objectives.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with a keen attention to detail
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and quality management systems.
  • Personal Commitment to safety
  • Experience in the forestry or manufacturing industry is considered an asset
