DUTIES :
Reporting to the Manager of Design, will serve as the lead for the environmental compliance on various engineering assignments. This includes being the 'Qualified Person' for the On-Site & Excess Soil Management as outlined under the Ontario Regulation 406 / 19. This position will also provide support for a variety of engineering assignments relative, but not limited to, the technical work associated with the Engineering area. (Subject to the requirements of the Professional Engineers Act in the practice of professional engineering.) Responsible for various engineering assignments, which may involve the technical design and preparation of specifications, cost estimates and tender documents, and the administration of contracts for the construction of infrastructure and related assignments. Must represent the Corporation and liaise with Consultants / Contractors during the construction of assigned projects. Ensure staff familiarization with Provincial safety legislation and Corporate safety policies and procedures. As assigned, will supervise engineers, technologists and technicians. Will research, prepare reports and other written correspondence as required. Will be responsible for ongoing employee lost time review. Will perform Occupational Health and Safety duties as outlined in the Corporate Health and Safety Program. Will perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Must have a Master’s Degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil or related), Geoscience, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency, and a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in the following areas to meet the qualification of a "Qualified Person" as detailed in the Ontario Regulation 153 / 04 :
Conducting and supervising Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA);
Conducting and supervising Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA);
