Job description

SALARY: $80,000 -$95,000 Annually

LOCATION: Invermere Kootenay Savings Branch - on site

Kootenay Savings Credit Union is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wealth Management Team Lead to join our team. In this role, you will provide direct leadership to the Investment Specialist Team and operational support to the Investment Division. This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth, effective day-to-day operations of the Wealth Management function, while supporting Investment Advisors and enabling strong client outcomes. Acting as a central liaison between the credit union and the investment referral process, the Team Lead helps connect internal partners, streamline referrals, and ensure a seamless experience from initial engagement through to advice delivery. The role also supports the sales and servicing of investment and insurance solutions, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the division.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leads, develops, and mentors the Investment Specialist team to achieve performance expectations and sales goals.
  • Designs, delivers, and maintains team training programs, including onboarding, compliance requirements, systems (Maximizer, Dataphile), and mutual fund knowledge.
  • Oversees client service delivery, including financial plan reviews, needs analysis, portfolio rebalancing, and consistent follow-through on client commitments.
  • Monitors team performance against service level agreements, including inbox and call queue management.
  • Supports achievement of sales targets and referrals to MoneyWorks, while identifying opportunities to promote Wealth Management products and services.
  • Leads digital channel migration for lower-complexity clients to improve scalability and advisor capacity.
  • Supports the Investment Division with financial plan preparation, insurance quotes, and broader operational needs of the investment platform.
  • Supports internal and dealer audits in collaboration with the Administration and Compliance Lead

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Wealth Management, Financial Advisory, or a related field, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
  • Strong working knowledge of a highly regulated environment (e.g., mutual funds, insurance, or wealth management), including compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in investment, mutual fund, and insurance products, terminology, and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop team members in a performance-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across teams and with external partners.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Advanced proficiency with business software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams).

Preferred

  • Progress toward or completion of a recognized financial planning designation (e.g., CFP or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting or leading operational processes within a wealth management or investment platform.
  • Familiarity with CRM and investment systems (e.g., Maximizer, Dataphile or similar).
  • Successful completion or working towards the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) designation

  • Must be bondable and maintain bonding eligibility throughout employment, in accordance with organizational and insurer requirements.
