Job description
Adecco is currently hiring a Train Conductor for a full-time opportunity. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is interested in playing a key role in railway operations and safety.
In this position, you will be part of a train crew responsible for coordinating train movements, assembling rail cars, and ensuring safe and efficient operations both in rail yards and on the road. This hands-on role involves physical work, communication, and decision-making in dynamic conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all train orders, signals, and railway safety regulations
  • Provide and receive instructions related to train and rail car movements
  • Assemble and dismantle trains in rail yards
  • Pick up and set off rail cars along routes
  • Observe and relay signals to ensure safe train operations
  • Operate track switches to control train routing
  • Inspect trains and equipment for safety and functionality
  • Respond effectively in emergency or unfamiliar situations
  • Communicate regularly with control centers and team members via radio
  • Perform ground duties such as coupling, uncoupling, and minor repairs
Qualifications
  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass safety and operating rules examinations
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Conductor Rule Card
  • Valid passport (for cross-border operations, if required)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English/French depending on location)
  • Ability to meet medical and physical fitness requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy loads (up to 90 lbs)
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Experience in similar safety-sensitive or outdoor work environments
  • College, vocational, or technical training
  • Previous rail or freight conductor experience
