Job descriptionMSc degree in a related field, with a PhD preferable. Theoretical and technical knowledge of immunology and / or virology, with additional knowledge of cell biology and molecular biology desirable. Teaching experience in immunology and / or virology is preferred. Technical expertise in mammalian and primary immune cell culture, mammalian cell transfection and flow cytometry of primary immune cells. Technical experience with qRT-PCR and ELISA is desirable. Good understanding of the biotechnology industry, with recent experience in the industry preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Professional attitude which stresses commitment, collaboration, responsibility for professional growth, open-mindedness and flexibility. Position Summary
BCIT’s School of Health Sciences is seeking a temporary, part-time (0.4 FTE) Instructor in the Biotechnology program to teach 1 course in the Biotechnology Program (BIOT 6201, Microbiology 3). This position requires that the candidate have a passion for post secondary education as well as recent knowledge and technical expertise in immunology and / or virology. They must be able to work with students hands-on in the laboratory to perform experiments involving CRISPR gene editing in mammalian cells, qRT-PCR, ELISA and flow cytometry of primary immune cells.

- Develop and deliver current and innovative laboratory exercises.
- Work with Biotechnology faculty to coordinate lab components between 2 courses to enhance student experiential learning.
- Liaise with students when necessary.
