As a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction specialised in civil engineering and related structures, the company has skills and recognised expertise in underground works, river and maritime works, linear projects, industrial civil engineering, earthworks and surface mining. From Hong Kong to Canada, Bouygues TP has completed numerous iconic projects : the Channel Tunnel, the Beirut seafront, the A28 and A41 motorways, the Ile de Ré and Normandy bridges, Chernobyl’s New Safe Confinement arch, Cairo and Sydney undergrounds, and over 10 tunnels in Hong Kong. Throughout the world, men and women in our company are all committed to innovate and create value for our clients.   About the Project Cross Fraser Partnership (CFP) is a Bouygues Construction Canada Inc., Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas Canada Ltd., Pomerleau BC Inc. and Arcadis Canada Inc. general partnership that has been selected to collaboratively deliver a new, eight-lane immersed tube tunnel that will replace the existing George Massey Tunnel on Highway 99. The new tunnel will have three vehicle lanes and a dedicated transit lane in each direction, with a separated active transportation corridor for cyclists and pedestrians. Position Overview : Under the supervision of the Indigenous Relations Lead, the Senior Indigenous Relations Advisor is responsible for maximizing the participation of Indigenous communities and businesses on a major project located in the Vancouver area. The successful candidate will ensure participation of Indigenous Peoples in project planning and construction, in collaboration with the project partners.   Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with the Identified Indigenous Groups.
  • Work with the Identified Indigenous Groups regarding contracting, employment and training opportunities.
  • Coordinate and deliver cultural awareness training to project team members.
  • Jointly participate with client representatives in meetings with the Identified Indigenous Groups.
  • In collaboration with the client’s Representative, engage with Identified Indigenous Groups for consultation on Project permitting.
  • Implement and update the Indigenous construction monitoring opportunities and working with the Environmental Manager to ensure monitoring requirements are met.
  • Develop, administer and manage the day-to-day implementation of the Indigenous Engagement and Participation Plan.
  • Facilitate the delivery of Indigenous cultural sensitivity and / or awareness training to all Key Individuals.
  • Undertake track and report in relation to the implementation of the Indigenous Engagement and Participation Plan and the Indigenous Requirements.
  • Update the Indigenous Engagement and Participation Plan in collaboration with the Identified Indigenous Groups.
  • Provide strategic advice on maintaining relationships with Indigenous people, communities, and organizations.
  • Identify, track, and monitor issues, concerns and needs identified by Indigenous communities, clients, and partners and determine how our design-build partnership can assist in building mutually beneficial relationships and capacity building programs.
  • Report to the Contractor Indigenous Relations Lead.   Education and qualifications :
  • University degree in environmental sciences, engineering, sustainable development, human science, community development, Indigenous studies, or a similar field.
  • At least five (5) years of recent experience on major projects and expertise in the following areas :
  • Proven skill and experience in building relationships with Indigenous Groups in British Columbia.
  • Knowledge of BC First Nation history, cultures, and forms of governance.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven skill and experience in effective communication, conflict resolution, and organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and to coordinate and manage Indigenous consultants.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage priorities, and autonomy.
  • Cooperative approach and leadership skills.
  • Sense of initiative, curiosity, creativity, and flexibility.
  • Deep commitment to building respectful and sustainable relationships and combat all forms of racism and discrimination against Indigenous people.
  • Availability for travel in the lower mainland of British Columbia and to South Coast First Nation communities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience using stakeholder management software.

Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate’s experience and geographical location.
