Summary of the role
The Project Management Director is ultimately responsible for the proper completion of the Hydro project portfolio under his / her supervision, completed on schedule, on budget and to customer’s satisfaction. With his / her team, these responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Manage and coach a team of Project Managers and System Engineers.
- Perform workload forecasts to allocate Project resources efficiently across the project portfolio.
- Organize and monitor interconnected projects to achieve strategic objectives.
- Structure the launch of new projects, set financial objectives, and define operating strategies with the Project Manager.
- Coordinate activities across different projects to ensure they are aligned and contribute to the overall business goals.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on the portfolio, as well as perform opportunity evaluations taking into account the entire portfolio.
- Engage with department / functional managers to ensure alignment, coordinate priority activities, and resolve critical issues across the different functions based on overall portfolio view.
- Escalate critical issues to senior management.
- Lead commercial negotiations on larger claims.
- Drive continuous improvement by analyzing program outcomes and implementing lessons learned to enhance future performance.
- Handle special projects as assigned.
