We’re looking for awesome Security Guards to join our growing team across Duncan, Crofton, Chemainus, and Cowichan Bay (Vancouver Island, BC)! You’ll have the chance to work in a variety of environments - from mobile patrol and retail to events, supportive housing, and port facilities. No two days are the same!

This role is perfect for someone who’s people-smart, customer-focused, and enjoys staying active. Some sites are large, so you’ll definitely get your steps in! We’re looking for flexible team players who can work days, nights, mornings, and/or weekends.

Training Wage: $18.50

Site Wage: $19.50 - $22.00

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service and assistance and sustain effective relationships with clients and patrons
  • Write clear and detailed reports including incident, emergency and day to day reports
  • Watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations and contact emergency responders as required
  • Provide first aid and medical response when required to any person(s)
  • Perform regular foot patrols to ensure personnel, building and equipment security
  • Exercise crowd control and evict trespassers

Core Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • A strong working knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
  • Strong observational skills
  • Ability to make immediate decisions, while maintaining composure in emergency response situations with minimal supervision

Job Requirements

  • A valid BC Security License is required (we can help you obtain one through our in-person training on Vancouver Island, or through JIBC)
  • OFA Level 1 or higher is an asset
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Good physical fitness — ability to walk for extended periods (most sites)
  • Class 5 or Class 7 BC Driver’s License is required for Mobile Patrol roles
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
