The Refrigeration and Maintenance Engineer at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Maintenance team supporting efforts to optimize refrigeration systems within the facility. This position involves troubleshooting issues, maintaining regulatory compliance, and planning and is ideal for someone who is adaptable, safety conscious, and has a continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance and Operations:
- Schedules maintenance/refrigeration personnel to maintain the department for optimal facility operation.
- Addresses issues that arise which could adversely impact the operational performance of the facility.
- Manages and maintains the maintenance budget for overall facility.
- Ensures compliance with mechanical, electrical and all other municipal and state codes.
- Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
- Oversees all projects related to both plants refrigeration and equipment maintenance and repair.
- Coordinate and inspect work performed by third-party refrigeration contractors.
- Manages and troubleshoots preventive maintenance of the refrigeration system and all components of the manufacturing and storage refrigeration systems for all processing facilities.
- Regulatory Compliance and Safety Management:
- Ensures all systems are operated in compliance with OSHA, and ASHRAE policies and procedures.
- Interact with regulatory agencies as necessary EPA, OSHA, ADEC, USDC, City, State and Federal inspectors.
- Lead the Process Safety Management (PSM) efforts for the processing facilities.
- Lead the strategic direction for all ammonia refrigeration systems, and infrastructure within the processing facilities.
- Lead, review, and strive for continuous development and improvement of safety programs related to facility maintenance including refrigeration.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position.
What you bring to Pacific Seafood
Education and Experience
- Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of (3) years' experience of Ammonia and Freon Refrigeration using general refrigeration competencies, including but not limited to ammonia systems design, installation, troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience managing and directing a team of technicians in preventative maintenance, repair, operations, and safety.
- 4th Class or better Power Engineering Ticket
- Experience operating and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems and facility electrical systems.
- Preferred
- CIRO certification or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the Engineering and/or Maintenance field in the food industry; seafood industry experience strongly preferred.

- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
