Job descriptionInstalls, maintains and repairs electrical systems and equipment. Conducts safety inspections. Carries out preventative maintenance work orders (PM’s). Holds a District purchasing card for the purpose of purchasing materials, and is responsible for the record keeping and reconciliation of the monthly statements. Purchases materials within the Purchasing Policy to obtain the best value for the District. Operates tools and equipment of the trade. Respond to emergency situations as requested. Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle. Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification. Completion of Grade 12. Apprenticeship and / or Trades Qualification Certificate (Electrical). One year's related experience in an industrial / commercial setting including alarms and controls. B.C. Driver's License. Ability to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the installation and maintenance of electrical / electronic systems and equipment. Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade. Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information. Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures. Working knowledge of computers. Physical ability to perform the required duties.
