Job description
Position Summary
Are you a registered Physiotherapist, Specialty Clinic & Preceptor looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Rehabilitation department.

Within the context of person and family-centered care and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Physiotherapist for the relevant specialty clinic will be responsible for the provision of direct clinical services as part of an interprofessional team, in an innovative approach to providing timely, effective and best practice care. In collaboration with organizational and community leaders, the incumbent will also support the development of the primary health model and act as a regional resource in the specialty area of physiotherapy practice. In partnership with UBC Department of Physical Therapy Northern and Rural Cohort, this position also provides clinical education and training, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of physiotherapy students.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:00 to 16:00

University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) is the largest Acute Care facility within the Northern Health region, and a hub for specialized health services. It’s also a teaching hospital:
• Provides undergraduate physician training through the Northern Medical Program, run by the University of British Columbia and University of Northern British Columbia.
• Hosts residents in UBC’s Family Practice Residency Program
• Is a key clinical education site for nursing and many health sciences students at UNBC, the College of New Caledonia, BCIT and other institutions.
UHNBC has benefited from nearly $100 million in expansions, renovations and new equipment since 2001:
• Patient care addition with an expanded emergency room and updated ICU
• State-of-the-art maternal-child care centre (including a single room neonatal ICU)
• Facilities to accommodate undergraduate physician training
• MRI unit
UHNBC is also home to a cancer centre for Northern BC, featuring a wide range of cancer treatments including radiation therapy.

Qualfications
• Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia and eligible for membership with the Physiotherapy Association of BC.
• Completion of a recognized Educator Course in the relevant specialty.
• Minimum of two (2) years related experience in clinical practice related to this specialty along with additional relevant courses related to this specialty
• Previous experience in a leadership /supervisory/ educator role.
• Demonstrated teaching and supervisory/mentoring experience for a range of health care providers.
• Valid BC Driver’s license required.
• Valid CPR C and AED certification.

Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, mentor, coach, facilitate students and staff through consultation, teaching and guidance.
• Excellent theoretical and clinical PT knowledge, skills, experience, and expertise in the acute inpatient/outpatient and/or community care settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and partners. Understands and applies competencies for interprofessional collaboration.
• Ability to work in a sole-charge environment with the willingness and ability to establish partnerships, find and link resources, and build networks.
• Experience in establishing partnerships, seeking opportunities, finding and linking resources, and building networks.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work and develop/implement new projects.
• Ability to develop educational, training and instructional resource materials.
• Demonstrated skill and ability to operate related equipment and techniques appropriate to clinical areas of responsibility.
• Strong computer literacy and competent use of office software applications and technology/equipment in support of electronic patient record, deliverables, practice education and outreach.
• Well versed in critical appraisal and incorporates relevant research, guidelines and best practice standards.
• Ability to apply evaluation and quality improvement methodology to care management and educational processes.
• Demonstrated ability to use knowledge translation processes, change management strategies, and to adapt to complex organizational work environments.
