About The Role

At ATB Wealth, we aren’t just bankers or brokers—we are partners in our clients’ lives. As a Private Investment Counsellor, you will serve as the dedicated fiduciary for ATB’s high-net-worth individuals, families, and corporations.

This is a senior role for an experienced professional who values discretionary portfolio management and holistic wealth stewardship. Unlike traditional brokerage roles that focus on trading or product sales, this position focuses on constructing wealth strategies using our rigorous Investment Committee model solutions. You will act as the "Chief Financial Officer" for your clients, coordinating banking, estate planning, and tax strategy to deliver the "One ATB" experience.

Accountabilities

• Discretionary Portfolio Management : Implement and manage customized portfolios based on ATBIM’s centralized Investment Committee models. You will translate the firm’s strategic asset allocation views into client-specific portfolios that strictly align with their Investment Policy Statement (IPS).
• Holistic Wealth Planning : Go beyond investments to identify needs in estate planning, philanthropy, insurance, and business succession. You will collaborate with our in-house Wealth Planning specialists to present total wealth solutions.
• The "One ATB" Quarterback : Act as the central architect of the client relationship. You will work in lockstep with ATB Private Banking, Commercial Banking, and Tax Specialists to ensure complex credit, lending, and intergenerational wealth transfer needs are met seamlessly.
• Behavioral Coaching : Provide calm, evidence-based guidance. You will translate complex market data and Investment Committee updates into clear, relatable insights that help clients stay disciplined during market volatility.
• Business Development : Actively grow your practice by developing Centres of Influence (COIs) in the Alberta community and partnering with ATB Retail and Commercial branches to identify existing clients with complex wealth needs.
