About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, International Learning Programs, the incumbent plays a key role in advancing the university’s internationalization and engagement goals by raising awareness and encouraging participation in Brock’s international learning opportunities. The Education Abroad Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for both outgoing and incoming students and oversees all related communication channels. The incumbent provides comprehensive support to students throughout every phase of their international learning experience, including inquiries about Exchange, Study Abroad, and Double Degree programs, while promoting these opportunities and coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth and enriching journey.
Education Abroad Coordinator Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for current and future outbound and inbound undergraduate and graduate, Exchange, Double Degree and study abroad learners;
- Provide pertinent information for all undergraduate and graduate, Exchange, Double Degree and study abroad learners (accommodation, flights, courses, student IT systems, finance, etc.) and respond to partner, internal and learner‑driven inquiries;
- Facilitate pre‑departure orientations for each cohort of learners during the first year;
- Administer the nomination and application process with partner schools, Double Degree learners and undergraduate learners;
- Administer the track selection process for outbound undergraduate – Double Degree learners including responding to enquiries prior to selection and participating in recruitment activities;
- Review transcripts from partner schools and determine transfer credits based on previously approved equivalencies, ensuring all transfer credits are applied to the student record;
- Facilitate on‑arrival orientation for Exchange, Double Degree and Study Abroad learners and guide learners through the course registration processes prior to arrival;
- Advise students on the best time and locations for exchange during their academic career;
- Manage the course approval process for all exchange learners, including corresponding with various departments on course equivalencies, providing and tracking approvals, and working with Academic Advising to ensure GSB learners meet academic requirements;
- Facilitate pre‑departure and academic orientation for outbound undergraduate learners;
- Support the Manager, International Learning Programs, with promoting safety abroad through internal processes, such as the risk management office, as well as with International SOS (ISOS);
- Support initiatives and liaise with Student Life, Faculty of Graduate Studies, and other campus partners to promote intercultural competency opportunities dedicated to the development of global‑minded graduates;
- Coordinate and help facilitate intercultural learning and development for all Brock students, in coordination with campus partners such as Student Life, Career Education, Experiential Education and Alumni;
- Promote the continued student enrollment of the “Global Domain” within the Campus Wide Co‑Curriculum (CWC) in partnership with Student Life;
- Serve as focal point for social media, marketing and on‑campus promotion of international programs;
- Represent Brock at recruitment events and school visits.
