The Waterloo Region Record currently has an opening for a Full time Editorial Assistant. The ideal candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends.
- Enter submitted content into online content management system.
- Support newsroom in managing flow of content and news stories into print and digital streams. Understand story hierarchy in various platforms.
- Have a deep interest in current affairs and passion for daily news cycle.
- Understand contemporary media ecosystem readership models and paths to subscription.
- Understand story structure and components of storytelling and how that relates to daily journalism.
- Be engaged with social media and understand its strategic use in appealing to readers.
- Play a key role in managing events calendar promotion and coverage.
- Monitor sort and address newsroom email accounts for issues and story assignments.
- Responsible for tagging and timing stories so they appeal to a wide audience. This includes understanding various newsroom tools and website page management.

Salary Range is $41703.48 to $50169.60
