I have two lovely boys, a four-year-old and a three year old. We live in a small cottage by the seaside and have a beautiful playroom / homeschool space in our detached workshop. I am looking for a full-time nanny who is patient and kind, has a rich imagination, and can cultivate the children's love of learning through educational play. I am currently blending ideas from Waldorf, Montessori and Forest school in a kind of intuitive daily rhythm rooted in play and magical thinking, and trying to get out of their way whenever I see them beautifully learning and exploring on their own (it happens a lot). I don't want pampered kids—I want kids who think of others, who learn how to care for themselves, how to regulate their emotions in a healthy way, and how to contribute to family life by pitching in around the house. The successful applicant will blend into our family life and support me as I work from home on various documentary film projects, and occasionally step in as a proxy parent if I'm called to travel for work. I'm around the house quite a lot so we would work as a team. We live in the countryside so appreciating rural living is a must. I believe in the idea that there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear.Duties will include but are not limited to planning fun and educational activities, driving the kids to activities, running errands, prepping food and feeding, and providing constant supervision in a safe and loving atmosphere. We have a lot of outdoor space and I encourage lots of time in nature, learning through our immediate natural environment in a coastal community.
