Job descriptionManage financial operations, including budgets and cash flow. Oversee the role of Finance Director, including payroll, billing, bookkeeping, collections, and financial reporting (KPIs). Develop systems to optimize profitability and resource allocation. Enhance the firm’s brand and market presence through strategic initiatives. Partner with Equity Partners to identify and capitalize on business development opportunities. Oversee marketing campaigns, events, client engagement and digital strategy. Ensure IT systems are secure, innovative, and aligned with operational needs. Lead the adoption of technology to enhance efficiency and client service delivery. Manage IT vendors and internal staff, ensuring seamless support and system integrity. Develop and execute strategic business plans that align with the firm’s growth objectives. Provide actionable insights through transparent performance reporting and forecasting. Adapt strategies to emerging trends, client demands and operational data. Oversee administrative functions to ensure seamless support for lawyers and staff. Manage facilities, vendor relationships and office space optimization. Lead initiatives to improve workflows, employee satisfaction and operational efficiency. Inspirational and patient leadership suited to a small, collegial “in office” environment. Highly organized, detailed, and self-sufficient management of tasks and projects. Strong financial, mathematical, and strategic business acumen. Fluent spoken and written English with ability to professionally communicate with sophisticated clients and counsel. Working with teams in person. Extensive experience in HR, finance, IT, marketing, and facilities management. Proven ability to manage operations in a professional services or service delivery business. Expertise in business planning, goal setting and operational execution. Experience with managing high-stakes projects, including growth initiatives. Advanced understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and key performance metrics. Familiarity with legal industry operations and standards (preferred). A relevant advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or equivalent work and life experience. The Director of Operations will have considerable autonomy over the firm’s non-legal operations, including human resources, IT, marketing, finance, facilities, and administration. This role represents a strategic investment in, and will be essential to, the firm’s long-term success, driving efficiency, innovation, and growth.
