Their interventions are extremely valued as they assist in maintaining the safety of Canadians by helping to improve offender health and reintegration into the community. CSC nurses provide a wide range of clinical services that can be found in a community setting, while specializing in services that reflect the needs of the offender population. These include infectious disease prevention and control, opiate substitution therapy programs, suicide prevention, enhanced discharge planning, and mental health interventions to support offenders with mental health disorders.
