Team members develop clinically-relevant scientific content for medical and marketing initiatives, related to pharmaceutical and biotechnology products. Team members also provide strategic consultation to clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and deliver therapeutic training programs to professional healthcare audiences. Project Management Responsibilities of the Medical Writer : Ensure appropriately developed project plans and timelines Monitor adherence to pre-defined project milestones and budgetTrack completion of project milestonesAnticipate project delays or budget constraints and develop appropriate contingency plansServe as primary communication lead with clients with oversight and guidance from senior team membersManage and delegate design / studio requests from the medical writing teamLiaise with various external stakeholders, including clients, clinicians and other supplier partnersWriting Responsibilities of the Medical Writer : Ensure appropriately focused project-based researchSelect supporting scientific literature appropriate for consideration by regulatory agencies and client reviewCritically appraise medical literature by applying the concepts of evidence-based medicineAccurately select, summarize and report clinical data and supporting statisticsEfficiently develop scientific content, following a defined processEffectively tailor content and style to a variety of audiences, including pharmaceutical representatives, healthcare professionals, academic researchers and patientsUse a reference database (e.g., Endnote) to manage literature and indicate primary information sourcesAssemble, organize, and highlight sources of information for internal and regulatory reviewCollaborate with the development team throughout a project life-span Essential Skills : 1-4 years of experience within Medical Communications fieldGraduate degree in Life Sciences preferably in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or immunologyStrong oral and written English communication skillsStrong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointConfident communicator with external stakeholdersSelf-starter and team player Desirable Skills : Experience with searching online medical literature databases (i.e., PubMed, Embase, etc)Knowledge of reference management softwareFamiliarity with good publication practices and supporting guidelines (eg, GPP3, CONSORT, PRISMA, etc) Attributes of the Medical Writer : The successful candidate will be self-motivated and self-sufficient with a flexible and inquisitive approach. The candidate will also utilize their excellent interpersonal skills to succeed in a team environment. Strong written communication skills and a thirst for knowledge are a must and a desire to learn and improve your experience in a variety of therapeutic areas is required.
