Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Must become a trainer for CPR/First Aid or Promote
• Work closely with DA II and DA III
• Supervise DSA’s; Head of Shift duties
• Some scheduling of regular shifts, medical appointments as well as for unforeseen events-call-ins, hospital coverage
• TIMES
• Implement and follow residential habilitation, protective oversight and behavior plans
• Participate, plan, and oversee community inclusion opportunities
• Manage personal funds and ensure compliance with all related agency Policies and Procedures. (CITRIX database)
• Interact with families; provide guidance/assistance as needed to families regarding their loved ones
• Oversee fire plans, drills and evacuation procedures
• Have knowledge of and apply agency policies and procedures regarding personnel and regulatory compliance matters
• Communicate regularly with supervisor, IRA staff and clinicians on issues and daily IRA operations
• Act as a role model for staff and actively participate in direct service delivery for primarily total care individuals
• Attend and participate in Lifeplan and other planning meetings
• As indicated, plan and attend house staff meetings
• Maintain a working relationship with Day Habilitation providers
• Prepare for and participate in surveys. Implement subsequent plans of corrective action
• Complete required paperwork timely including incident reports, employee evaluations, and monthly fire safety rounds.
• Significant personal care services to be provided

Minimum Qualifications PROMOTION: one year of service as a Direct Support Assistant (all parenthetics), Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, or Licensed Practical Nurse, and completion of a one-year traineeship.
The position may be filled at the Developmental Assistant Trainee level equated to SG-11 or full performance Developmental Assistant 1 level equated to SG-12 based on education and experience. Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance level following the successful completion of the traineeship.
OPEN COMPETITIVE:
Developmental Assistant Trainee: High school or high school equivalency diploma and one year of experience in the care, treatment, and habilitation of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Developmental Assistant 1: High school or high school equivalency diploma and two years of experience in the care, treatment, and habilitation of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
70.1 TRANSFER:
One year of service as a Direct Support Assistant (all parenthetics), Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, or Licensed Practical Nurse, and completion of a one-year traineeship.
55 B/C QUALIFICATIONS:
• Possess the minimum qualifications for this title as established by the Department of Civil Service and listed on the most recent exam announcement.
• Meet the applicable minimal mental and/or physical requirements for the job (with a reasonable accommodation, if necessary).
• Have a current Eligibility Letter from the NYS Department of Civil Service, /rp55/, and be able to provide it to the Human Resources Office upon request.
