Job summary :
As Software Development Manager, you’ll lead a talented team of software engineers contributing to AGT’s autonomous robotic welding and automation solutions. Working closely with peers in robotics, vision, mechanical, and electrical teams, you’ll provide technical leadership and strategic direction to ensure our products deliver maximum customer value. You’ll act as both coach and connector; developing people, fostering collaboration across disciplines, and aligning your team’s work with product and organizational goals.
As Software Development Manager, you’ll lead a talented team of software engineers contributing to AGT’s autonomous robotic welding and automation solutions. Working closely with peers in robotics, vision, mechanical, and electrical teams, you’ll provide technical leadership and strategic direction to ensure our products deliver maximum customer value.

MainResponsibilities :
Lead and support the software development team as its functional manager.
Foster a collaborative, growth‑minded culture focused on innovation, accountability, and well‑being.
Set clear objectives and development plans aligned with both individual and organizational goals.
Ensure team members have the training, tools, and guidance needed to perform at their best.
Conduct regular check‑ins to review progress, recognize achievements, and identify growth opportunities.
Development Management
Oversee software development and release activities, ensuring high velocity, consistent quality, and strong organizational execution.
Drive continuous improvement in development velocity and product quality through planning, structure, and disciplined execution.
Proactively manage risks, providing data‑driven options that keep deliveries on time and aligned with customer value.
Prepare and present progress reports and strategic updates to directors and senior leadership.
Promote a culture of open communication and collaboration across all development teams (robotics, vision, mechanical, and operations).
Manage workload distribution to maintain focus, prioritization, and productivity.
Collaborate with Product, Labs, and Technical leadership to balance commercial, technical, and customer priorities.
Engage your team in shaping the product roadmap, connecting day‑to‑day work with long‑term vision and outcomes.
Anticipate delivery risks early and propose creative solutions or trade‑offs that protect commitments without compromising customer value.
Contribute actively to defining best practices, standards, and release management processes through cross‑functional initiatives.
Advocate for efficient, outcome‑driven ways of working, promoting adaptability and sound judgment over rigid process.
Requirements and qualifications required :
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A combination of other education and experience can be considered.
10+ years in product or software development management, ideally in a multidisciplinary, technology‑driven environment.
Demonstrated ability to build strong cross‑functional relationships in a product‑driven environment, connecting software development to manufacturing, support, and customer outcomes.
Strong technical background with proven experience leading software teams and delivering complex projects. You must know how to deliver a product from A to Z working with various teams and remote sites (Canada‑USA‑Europe).
Solid programming knowledge, particularly in C#, with the ability to engage effectively in technical discussions and design decisions.
Proven track record of successfully delivering high‑impact products or programs. Not only working on features but being able to deliver a product. Product and project planning is a must.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and modern development tools.
Strong communication skills in English and French (written and spoken). Need to be bilingual to communicate with the team in Portugal and in the USA as well as worldwide clientele.
Knowledge of robotics, automation, or manufacturing systems is an asset.
Understanding of the structural steel or welding industry is a plus.

This position requires a regular on‑site presence at our Trois-Rivieres location (2–3 days per week). Candidates located near the site will be given preference. However, remote work arrangements may be considered for the right candidates.
