Job description

Established in 2002, General Fusion (NASDAQ: GFUZ) is a leader in the global race to commercialize fusion energy, and the first publicly listed fusion company. We are pursuing a uniquely practical approach, Magnetized Target Fusion, designed from the ground up with a commercialization in mind. At our lab in Richmond, BC, we're operating Lawson Machine 26 (LM26), our fusion demonstration machine built at a commercially relevant scale, as we advance the Lawson program toward key technical milestones. This role covers partner research, relationship coordination, proposal support, and external engagement offering direct exposure to strategic partnership development, external validation, and market development work.

This is a junior role for someone early in their career who wants to build toward a partnership management or business development career path in the fusion/energy sector.

Responsibilities

Partnership Development

  • Research external partners' capabilities and map them against General Fusion's technology needs to identify prospective collaborations
  • Identify key stakeholders within external organizations and connect them with relevant General Fusion technical experts
  • Draft and assemble grant proposals and program applications to government-funded programs under the Director's guidance
  • Coordinate contract logistics, including scheduling, redline tracking, and document coordination
  • Maintain and grow relationships with key partner organizations

Market Development

  • Administer the Market Development Advisory Committee (MDAC): scheduling quarterly meetings, preparing materials, tracking follow-ups, and maintaining member records
  • Research and identify new prospective partners to support commercialization and market development goals
  • Support expansion of current partner relationships, including siting discussions for General Fusion facilities and activities
  • Track relationships and correspondence with key external organizations
  • Support execution of commercial agreements tied to market development, including milestones, phase activities, and deliverables owed by General Fusion

External Validation

  • Coordinate deliverables for the external science validation program
  • Review competitor publications and public technical disclosures to help track the external fusion landscape
  • Support development of General Fusion's science communication strategy, helping translate technical progress into credible external-facing narratives

Events & Communications

  • Attend conferences and industry events to support science communication and business development efforts
  • Support conference attendance logistics as part of the Conference Committee
  • Support academic engagements, guest lectures, and industry events to help cultivate new technical partnerships
  • Prepare technical content for presentations, publications, and outreach materials in collaboration with Marketing and Communications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a partnerships, business development, or external-facing coordination role, within a technology-focused environment
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable researching organizations, technologies, and funding programs independently
  • Genuine interest in fusion energy, clean tech, or large-scale scientific collaborations
  • A collaborative, "figure it out" attitude - comfortable asking questions and learning on the job
  • Based in, or willing to relocate to Vancouver, BC, with onsite work required a minimum of three days per week, with specific days determined by the manager

The typical hiring range for this position is $70,000 – $80,000. General Fusion considers many factors when determining total compensation, including job-specific or highly specialized knowledge, skills and experience, proficiency, job location, and internal equity.

What We Offer:

  • Four weeks’ vacation
  • Ten personal days
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • RRSP Contribution
  • Support for professional development
  • Great company culture – social events, weekly lunch program, bike rides, Sun Run, etc.
