A HIGH IMPACT PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITY

The Campbellton Regional Community is seeking to welcome a Municipal Engineer to its team—someone who can make a meaningful contribution to the planning, prioritization and delivery of its infrastructure investments.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and prioritizing infrastructure initiatives. They will help strengthen planning practices, support sound technical decision-making, and advance practical projects that have a direct impact on the quality of municipal services.

This position offers a combination that is rarely found: direct impact on a community’s infrastructure, close collaboration with senior leadership, meaningful professional latitude, and a highly competitive overall compensation package, including a defined benefit pension plan.

YOUR MANDATE

You will lead a portfolio of technical files, municipal projects and targeted investments that directly influence asset sustainability, infrastructure quality, and the organization’s ability to deliver on its priorities.

Your mandate will include, among other things:

  • Roads and transportation infrastructure
  • Drainage and stormwater systems
  • Drinking water and wastewater systems
  • Municipal buildings
  • Active transportation infrastructure, including cycling paths and trails
  • Recreational, community and municipal facilities
  • Municipal asset management
  • Short-, medium- and long-term capital planning

You will also serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior management, municipal council and internal departments by providing clear analysis, sound recommendations and a practical understanding of key issues.

Requirements

THE PROFILE WE ARE SEEKING AND THE IMPACT EXPECTED

We are looking for a professional who combines technical depth, sound judgment, autonomy and a strong understanding of the municipal environment. The successful candidate will be able to operate with credibility both in the field and in collaboration with senior management, council and internal stakeholders.

Through their expertise, the successful candidate will play a direct role in bringing greater structure to intervention priorities, moving municipal projects forward, and strengthening a more integrated approach to infrastructure planning and asset management.

The successful candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or in a related field relevant to infrastructure. They are a member of APEGNB, or eligible to become one. They bring at least five years of relevant experience in infrastructure or project management, along with practical experience in the planning, design or delivery of infrastructure projects.

They have already contributed to the preparation of technical documents, tender documents or funding applications, and work effectively with consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams. They have a solid understanding of infrastructure, asset management, infrastructure life cycles, as well as municipal operations and the applicable regulatory framework.

Professionally, they stand out for their rigour, autonomy, strategic mindset, sound judgment and ability to prioritize. They communicate clearly, collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders and adapt well to a changing environment. Bilingualism in French and English, as well as a valid driver’s licence, are required. Experience in a municipal setting, a consulting engineering environment, or a unionized workplace will be considered an asset.
