Duties:
The Faculty of Education invites applications for a regular part-time professor with a teaching focus on Education Technology in the Bachelor of Education and Post-Baccalaureate programs.
The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated expertise in educational technology, supported by both academic preparation and professional experience. Areas of emphasis may include, but are not limited to:
- Instructional design and learning design
- Digital literacy and digital culture
- Online, blended, and technology-enhanced learning environments
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., Curriculum and Pedagogy, Teacher Education, Educational Technology, or a closely related discipline) from an appropriately accredited institution.
- Demonstrated expertise in educational technology as applied to teacher education contexts.
- Evidence of effective interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills, with the ability to work successfully in team-based environments and with individuals from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds.
- A demonstrated commitment to the development of teachers, including significant professional experience in K-12 educational settings, with experience in curriculum implementation and core competencies.
- Knowledge of and experience with Indigenous principles of teaching and learning.
- Eligibility for a British Columbia Teaching Certificate, or equivalent teacher certification.
- Evidence of ongoing commitment to teaching excellence, student learning, and educational scholarship and/or research.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success teaching adult learners in post-secondary or university-level settings.
- Familiarity with Vancouver Island University Teacher Education programs.
- Knowledge of current BC Ministry of Education and Child Care initiatives, including curriculum, assessment, and reporting frameworks.
- An additional teaching area or recognized expertise that complements programs within teacher education.
