Job Summary
The Team
The Corrections Branch plays a vital role in the criminal justice system, focusing on community protection through effective offender management and rehabilitation. We lead community work service programs and support offenders in making meaningful changes to their behavior and attitudes.As part of the Adult Custody division-one of four within the Corrections Branch-we are responsible for the care and supervision of approximately 2,800 male and female inmates across 10 correctional centers in British Columbia. Join our team in ensuring the safety, security, and rehabilitation of those in our care.
The Role
As an Assistant Deputy Warden, you'll be at the forefront of executing the vision of the Adult Custody division. This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape impactful partnerships with justice partners, non-profit organizations, advocacy groups, and other external agencies. Your work will play a crucial role in enhancing public safety and upholding the community's confidence in BC Corrections.
As a key member of the center's leadership team, the Assistant Deputy Warden plays a pivotal role in maintaining the safety and security of the facility. You'll have the authority to authorize the use of force when necessary and implement life-saving strategies during emergencies. Serving as the second in command in the absence of the Deputy Warden, you'll be integral to the center's operations and decision-making processes.
At present there are six (6) ADW roles which incumbents rotate through :
- 1) Adult Custody divisional headquarters;
- 2) Sentence Management;
- 3) Staffing;
- 4) Standards;
5) Regulations; and
6) Programs.
