Powder Coating System Operator Position Summary : The Powder Coating System Operator is responsible for powder coating customer materials ensuring parts are painted / coated properly according to customer specifications while meeting quality standards. Reports to : Production Supervisor Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities : Prepare customer materials for coating, verify drawings and coverage information for proper powder coatings instructions. Inspect customer materials for any pre-painting material defect prior to and during coating process. Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application. Set up and adjust manual & automatic powder guns. Efficiently operate all coating equipment including manual & automatic powder coating application systems, ensuring accurate amount of powder is applied to materials. Follow the production schedule / paint sequence on the ERP system to review production requirements and work instructions. Check on powders to ensure sufficient supply of powder is maintained to the paint booth for production run. Create and save powder recipes in automatic gun set up for standard powders & customer products. Determine paint flow and coating quality by performing visuals inspection. Perform adjustment in automatic and manual gun setting for current, air, voltage. Assess its impact on quality of powder coated material. Ensure that all materials are coated efficiently and are consistent with company established standards for quality. Participate in the colour change process including thoroughly cleaning and maintaining powder coating equipment, hoses & booth, etc. Operate the powder reclaim system and check reclaim powder. Recognize and trouble shoot problems and adjust accordingly. Report any problems with powder equipment performance / quality. Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (or the “Act”) and the regulation. Conduct regular inspection and cleaning of all powder coating equipment including guns, nozzles, hoppers and other parts. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements & Qualifications : ~ High school diploma or equivalent ~2+ years of industrial powder coating experienced (preferred) ~2+ years’ experience with painting on a conveyor system line ~ Powder coating experience involving wash stages ~ Experience running automatic systems, preferably with Germa, Wagner, or Nordson equipment ~ Ability to read and understand powder codes ~ Ability to follow production schedules ~ Basic knowledge of reading part blueprints and knowledge of maintaining paint line functionality ~ Able to establish between different colours on colour spectrum and recognize variance between colours. ~ Preferred experience with manual & automatic powder coating application systems ~ Experience with performing colour change process in conveyor-line powder coating operations. ~ Ability to troubleshoot common issues with guns, pumps, and booths ~ Ability to stand, bend, lift and carry up to 50lbs ~ Ability to work in extreme temperatures and conditions (hot) ~ Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques ~ Ability to multitask, effective time management & attention to detail ~ Excellent communication skills required both written and verbal Cultural Responsibilities : Treating all team members with respect Cooperating with other team members and management Supporting Colourific’s “One Team” mantra Maintain open dialogue with management to improve health, safety, and operational standards within the facility General Responsibilities : Reporting to work each day at the required time Abiding by company policies and procedures at all times Keeping work area clean and free of debris Prioritizing safety in your actions and workspace condition Cooperating with other employees and management Completing work to the best of your ability Advising management when aware of contraventions of Health and Safety What We Offer : Competitive salary based on qualifications & experience Company benefits plan Room for progression and advancement within company Provincial safety training and workplace training
