Job description
Adecco is currently hiring a Permanent Machine Operator for a full-time opportunity. This role is ideal for someone with experience operating heavy equipment who enjoys working outdoors and contributing to the maintenance and safety of railway infrastructure. In this position, you will operate on- and off-track machinery to support track maintenance activities, while also assisting with inspections, repairs, and general track work when required. This is a hands-on role that requires strong attention to safety, physical endurance, and the ability to work in various environmental conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Operate on- and off-track heavy equipment to support track repair and maintenance activities
  • Remove and replace defective ties, rail spikes, and anchors
  • Correct deviations in track surface, alignment, and gauge
  • Install and repair street and railroad crossings
  • Distribute track materials across work sites
  • Clear brush, vegetation, snow, and debris from right-of-way areas
  • Establish and maintain proper drainage systems
  • Inspect and maintain heavy equipment
  • Perform track inspections and general maintenance when equipment operation is not required
  • Follow all safety standards, operating rules, and safe work procedures
Qualifications
  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather and environmental conditions
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks and lift up to 50 lbs (70 lbs occasionally)
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Assets
  • Experience in similar working conditions
  • Post-secondary trade education
  • Mechanical experience or training
  • Knowledge of rail operating rules or signals
