CAD20–CAD22 hourlyJob descriptionEnsure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. Conduct routine inspections, perform preventative maintenance, repair, troubleshoot, replace, install, and maintain : Machinery, belts and worn parts, grease, lubrication, component adjustment, and cleaning. Plumbing and ventilation equipment. Gauges, valves, and pressure regulators. Physical structures, including fixtures, fences, gates, and roofs. Electrical repairs / troubleshooting in accordance with codes, blueprints, and manuals. Power transmission and related components. Hydraulic systems, air compressors, vacuum pumps, and centrifugal pumps and high-pressure wash equipment. Follow all safety precautions (i.e lockouts) and procedures when carrying out work on equipment. Keep preventative maintenance schedule up to date. Log all up dates in the Preventative Maintenance HIPPO Log. Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. Maintain and repair physical structures including fences, gates and roofs. Perform electrical repairs and troubleshooting in accordance with codes, blueprints, and manuals. Perform metal fabrication operations including layout, drilling, tapping, sawing, and grinding. Perform welding and flame cutting operations applicable to MIG, stick, oxy-acetylene, and plasma cutting. Ability to perform work at heights using scissor lift and articulated lift. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety and health regulations. Maintain a clean work environment. Oversee contractors with professional repairs when necessary. Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Ability to achieve and maintain required productivity levels in a dynamic and challenging environment by effectively organizing, prioritizing, and executing tasks. Ability to work and make decisions independently without direct supervision. and consistently reach, bend, sit, stand and climb. Reliable, punctual, and positive team-player who is adaptable, open minded, enthusiastic, and takes initiative, and has strong organizational and time management skills. Previous knowledge and experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing considered an asset.
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible to carry out maintenance and repairs on machines and equipment, and preventative maintenance and inspections on various machines including, compressors, hydraulics, and electrical equipment.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS :
- Experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic or similar role. ( May also consider relevant education and training).
- Post secondary education in the industrial mechanical field is an asset.
- Valid Manitoba driver’s license.
- Experience using electrical and manual tools (hoists, saws, drills, etc.)
- Ability to read blueprints, maintenance work orders, and repair manuals as necessary.
- Ability to take maintain and repair machines and equipment.
- Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanics
- Experience in lathe and milling, electrical, welding and plumbing are considered assets.
- Knowledge and experience with lifting equipment, such as cranes and hoists.
- Must possess basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, conversions of fractions and decimals.
- Must be able to be certified as a FORKLIFT OPERATOR and OVERHEAD CRANE OPERATOR.
- Must be available to work all shifts – days, afternoons, midnights (Mandatory).
- Must be willing to work in other departments on a temporary basis as designated by the manager;
