Duties

Duties may include the following activities :

  • Litigation processing and Court Services for judiciary and litigants.
  • Information and liaison services for judiciary, staff, lawyers, litigants and the general public.
  • Procedural advice and assistance to the general public and internal and external clients litigants, lawyers, Federal Boards, Tribunal, interveners, witnesses) staff, media on the filing of legal and originating documents submitted to the Courts and prepared by the Courts.
  • Compliance services, guidance, support and advice on procedural requirements to general public, clients lawyers, litigants and other registry staff.
  • Coordinates activities within the court environment prior to the arrival of the judge or prothonotary; records minutes of hearings; and serves as Court Registrar / Court Technician at sittings of the Courts.

Intent of the process

We encourage potential candidates to apply now, as the CAS has immediate needs at the PM-03 group and level. This inventory will be accessed to fill these positions.

This process is intended to create and maintain an inventory of candidates to staff similar or identical positions with various tenure, various linguistic profiles and security requirements within the Courts Administration Service.

As a first step in the selection process, candidates who are screened in may be invited to be assessed in their second official language.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives. The Employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are :

  • A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
  • An acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.
  • Experience working in a legal environment such as a Board, Commission, Tribunal, Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal), law firm or equivalent.

    Experience providing front line service to internal or external clients.

    Experience applying acts, regulations or directives.

    Successful completion of two (2) years of post-secondary education or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the position.

    Experience providing procedural recommendations and / or advice to internal or external clients.

    Experience working as a registry officer or similar position in a Board, Commission, Tribunal or Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal).

    Experience facilitating the operation of courtroom technology, such as but not limited to remote appearances, court audio and video recording equipment, and display evidence equipment.

    Proficient with computer software and case management systems (data base programs) to access, edit and retrieve information.

    Proficient with MicroSoft Office Suite.

    Experience in working with various virtual meetings software including Zoom, MSTeams or other platforms.

    Operational Requirements :

    Willing and able to work in the workplace and telework.

    Willing and able to possess adequate broadband internet if teleworking.

    Willing and able to work from 8 : 30 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m.

    Willing and able to work overtime, often on short notice, or on standby.

  • Number of days for telework will depend on the position to be staffed and the operational requirements of that office. Some locations may require to be on-site up to 5 days a week.

    The Written Communication may be assessed using the candidate's application, as well as throughout the selection process.

    Candidates will be required to provide proof of their education credentials in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

    If a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool. If a candidate is selected for a specified period (including term, acting, or assignment / secondment) appointment, they will remain in the pool for future offers.
