Job descriptionDiploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. 2 to 5 years of experience in EWP or truss design, ideally within the LBM industry. Proficiency in MiTek Sapphire Structure is required; additional software experience (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit) is considered an asset. Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes and structural framing practices. Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings with a high degree of accuracy. Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams and external stakeholders. Competitive salary and benefits package. Known for innovation, technical excellence, and customer service, they are seeking a highly skilled EWP Designer to join their team in Calgary.
Position Summary :
As an EWP Designer, you will be responsible for creating structural layouts and framing designs using MiTek software. You will work closely with sales teams, contractors, and engineers to develop efficient, cost-effective, and code-compliant wood framing packages for a variety of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design floor and roof systems using engineered wood products in MiTek Sapphire Structure.
- Interpret architectural and structural plans, specifications, and building codes to create accurate layout drawings.
- Provide optimized and value-engineered solutions that meet client and structural requirements.
- Collaborate with sales representatives, customers, and internal teams to ensure technical accuracy and timely delivery of design packages.
- Generate material take-offs and provide support for purchase orders and production planning.
- Modify designs based on feedback or site changes and manage revisions through the project life cycle.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and company standards.
- Maintain accurate records of design work and documentation in the project management system.
