Our distribution client, is seeking a highly motivated and independent Controller to join their team in Thorold, ON. Responsibilities:

• Own and manage full-cycle accounting including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for both Canadian and U.S. operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and fixed assets, resolving complex accounting issues
• Lead and mentor a diverse accounting team, fostering accountability and growth, and managing staff development
• Identify and independently solve problems, driving process improvement and efficiency across financial operations
• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital needs, providing clear visibility into cash positions
• Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements, coordinating with external parties
• Lead and support special initiatives, including system enhancements and process redesign, acting as a finance partner to cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

• CPA designation is a non-negotiable
• The ideal profile is a solid Controller, Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager
• Proven experience owning the month-end close process
• Experience managing a small to mid-sized accounting team
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a focus on independent resolution
• Experience with Dynamics Business Central is preferred
