West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our Smithers division in BC is currently recruiting for a full-time Planning Forester.

You'll Do :

  • Designing roads and cut blocks
  • Administrating and supervising contracts (layout, cruising, and site assessments)
  • Liaising with the Government and Indigenous Peoples
  • Consulting stakeholders
  • Incorporating social and cultural values into harvest area designs
  • Preparing and submitting appraisals and cutting / road permit applications
  • Developing Site Plans

You have :

  • A degree or diploma in forestry, along with registration or eligibility for registration with Forest Professionals BC.
  • Relevant experience in planning activities such as cruising, block layout, and site plan preparation is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • A self-motivated attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and information management systems would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the appraisal system and timber cruising processes would be considered an asset.
  • A current class 5 driver’s licence.
  • What We Offer :

  • Competitive base salary with an annual bonus opportunity. The typical salary range for this position is $68,000 - $90,000, may vary depending on location, education, and relevant experience.
