Job description

Are you an early-career wildlife biologist eager to make a meaningful impact on some of Canada’s most significant mining and energy projects?

Join ERM’s Capital Project Delivery Team as a Consulting Senior Associate, Wildlife Biologist (Fixed-Term, Full-Time), and help deliver sustainable solutions that balance responsible development with biodiversity conservation. Based in one of our Canadian offices (Vancouver, Smithers, Calgary, or Saskatoon), you will contribute to high-profile projects while working alongside a team of environmental experts committed to creating a more sustainable future.

This is a fixed-term position through August 31, 2027.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • B.Sc. or Technical/College diploma in Biological Sciences or related field.

  • 1+ years of professional experience in wildlife biology, environmental consulting or related sectors (government, mining, energy).

  • Previous experience participating in wildlife field surveys.

  • Some knowledge of federal, provincial, and territorial environmental regulations.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build meaningful relationships with team members and clients.

  • Willingness to ask questions and learn from senior members of our project teams.

  • Eligibility for professional registration (e.g., R.P.Bio., P.Biol., or equivalent).

  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred

  • M.Sc. in Biological Sciences or related discipline.

  • 1+ years of consulting experience.

  • Experience deploying and maintaining autonomous recording units (ARUs) and/or wildlife trail cameras.

  • Experience using Field Maps, Survey 123, and handheld GPS units.

  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory regulations in British Columbia, Nunavut, and/or Northwest Territories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with wildlife field programs (birds, amphibians, large mammals).

  • Contribute to wildlife assessments for Environmental Impact Statements and management plans under the direction of a project team.

  • Conduct literature reviews and identify recommendations for wildlife mitigations.

  • Support tasks for technical data reporting and compliance reporting.

  • Build positive working relationships with clients, Indigenous assistants, and ERM colleagues worldwide.

For the Consulting Senior Associate, Wildlife Biologist position, the anticipated annual base pay is $68,770–$85,820 (CAD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
