Job description

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major bridge infrastructure project in Golden, BC. This high-profile Ministry of Transportation project offers the opportunity to oversee the successful execution of a complex heavy civil construction project from its current stage through completion.

Reporting to senior leadership, the successful candidate will provide strategic direction to project teams, manage subcontractors and stakeholders, oversee project controls, and ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role is ideal for an experienced heavy civil leader looking to make a significant impact on one of British Columbia's key transportation infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall planning, execution, and successful delivery of a major bridge infrastructure project.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and risk throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to project management, engineering, surveying, and quality teams.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and client relationships.
  • Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules and monitor project progress.
  • Lead project cost control, forecasting, change management, and claims management activities.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control programs.
  • Promote and maintain an industry-leading safety culture across the project.
  • Negotiate contract changes, resolve disputes, and mitigate project risks.
  • Support workforce development through mentoring, coaching, and training initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience managing heavy civil construction projects.
  • Proven experience delivering bridge, highway, transportation, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background managing large multidisciplinary construction teams and subcontractors.
  • Demonstrated success managing project budgets, schedules, risk, and client relationships.
  • Experience with contract administration, change management, and claims.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership and quality excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience delivering projects for the BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MOTTI/MOTI).
  • Strong understanding of MMCD contracts and specifications.
  • Experience leading large public infrastructure projects.
