Our client, a leading manufacturer of branded, licensed and private label apparel is looking for an experienced Compliance Specialist to join their team. This person will be responsible for overseeing factory and supply chain adherence of local, national, and international regulations governing the apparel and licensed product
industry. This includes ensuring ethical sourcing and overseeing product safety, labor, and
environmental compliance. The role involves working closely with internal teams and external
partners to maintain compliance with industry standards and the company's Code of Conduct.
Responsibilities :
Regulatory Compliance :
Ensure compliance with labour, environmental, and safety regulations.
Monitor legislative changes and update internal policies accordingly.
Ensure product safety compliance, focusing on fabric quality, flammability, and chemical
use.
Ensure manufacturers are respecting all requirements set out by the customers and
licensees.
Coordinate documentation and certificate submission from factories to licensees.
Ethical Sourcing & Vendor Compliance :
Ensure suppliers follow ethical sourcing standards and comply with labor laws.
Review Social Audit Reports and Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
Collaborate with vendors to meet environmental and sustainability standards.
Ensure key steps are followed in upholding full supply chain traceability.
Sustainability & Environmental Compliance :
Work on sustainability initiatives to ensure adherence to environmental regulations,
including waste management.
Support green manufacturing initiatives.
Conduct assessments to identify areas for improvement by proposing sustainability
strategies to meet organizational goals and year end reporting.
Organize meetings and collaborate with various departments and pillar leads for
company year-end sustainability report.
Prepare reports on sustainability initiatives and compliance status, for company year-
end report.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in business, Law, Environmental Studies, or related field.
Certification in Sustainability
5-7 years of experience in compliance or risk management, ideally in apparel or
manufacturing.
Experience with ethical sourcing, supply chain management, and environmental
compliance is required.
Good knowledge base of key areas surrounding environment, social and governance
ESG) in consumer goods.
Experience working with suppliers in Bangladesh, India and China.
Strong knowledge of labour laws, environmental regulations, and product safety
standards.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to mitigate compliance risks.
Strong communication skills for collaborating with vendors and teams.
Proficient in audit processes and compliance management tools.
