The Foot Care Practitioner will have the opportunity to travel within an assigned portfolio of homes, providing routine foot care nursing services to residents and clients within the portfolio.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Foot Care Practitioner will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice in keeping with the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario and Fixing Long Term Care Act.
Please note this is not a contracted position.
Responsibilities
Ensure resident care is provide with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders, and administrative policies, as well as observe, report, symptoms, and conditions of residents, and initiate remedial health measures where appropriate. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care.
Assess residents and contribute to resident care plans. Monitor residents’ health, notes changes in condition and assess need for referral to doctors.
Perform foot care for procedures for which recognized training and current competency can be demonstrated. Observe and document client conditions and changes following proper standards and in accordance with professional standards.
Qualifications.
Advanced and Diabetic Foot Care Certification is required.
Registration or eligible for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario.
Access to reliable transportation and “G” class license.
Willingness to travel between work sites.
Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
Effective human relation skills and demonstrated commitment to working with seniors.
Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.
