Project Superintendent

Unlimited Building Solutions Inc. (UBS) is a Pickering-based commercial general contracting and construction management firm founded in 1999. We deliver interior fit-out, renovation, and improvement projects for institutional, corporate, and retail clients across Canada.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a hands-on, commercially minded Project Superintendent to lead field operations on commercial interior renovation and ICI improvement projects. This is a site-leadership position — you will be the UBS representative on the ground, accountable for daily execution, subtrade coordination, safety compliance, and quality control from mobilization through substantial completion.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of experience running commercial interiors projects independently, is comfortable working across a national client portfolio, and brings the professionalism and communication skills to represent UBS in client and property-management environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Site Execution & Coordination

• Manage day-to-day field operations on multiple concurrent commercial renovation and ICI projects
• Coordinate and supervise subtrades, ensuring work proceeds on schedule and within scope
• Conduct site meetings, produce daily site reports, and maintain up-to-date site documentation
• Interpret and work from construction drawings, specifications, and scope documents
• Identify and escalate scope deviations, RFIs, and potential change order triggers in a timely manner

Quality & Safety

• Enforce UBS health and safety standards and ensure full compliance with applicable legislation (OHSA, WHMIS, Working at Heights)
• Conduct pre-task safety planning, toolbox talks, and site inspections
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and hold subtrades accountable to spec
• Ensure proper documentation of hazardous material conditions in environments involving asbestos, mould, or other designated substances

Client & Stakeholder Relations

• Act as the primary UBS contact for clients, building managers, and property teams during the construction phase
• Represent UBS professionally in occupied commercial and institutional environments
• Communicate project status, issues, and schedule impacts clearly to the Project Manager and client teams

Schedule & Documentation

• Monitor project schedules and flag risks before they become delays
• Track material deliveries, equipment logistics, and on-site resource allocation
• Prepare and submit daily logs, deficiency lists, and substantial completion documentation

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Required

• 5–10 years of field experience in commercial construction, ICI renovation, or interior fit-out
• Demonstrated experience running projects independently as a lead superintendent or senior lead hand
• Strong working knowledge of commercial subtrade coordination (mechanical, electrical, framing, drywall, finishes)
• Valid G driver's licence and reliable personal vehicle — travel to GTA-area and regional project sites is required
• Solid understanding of OHSA requirements and active health and safety certifications (Working at Heights, WHMIS; First Aid an asset)
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for site reporting and client interaction

Assets

• Experience working in occupied commercial, institutional, or retail environments
• Familiarity with asbestos or mould abatement protocols
• Gold Seal Certification (CSC) or equivalent
• Experance with project management or site documentation software
