PURPOSE OF THE POSITION :
The Construction Project Manager (CPM) is responsible for ensuring the end-to-end execution of remodels and new builds for KFC, Starbucks, Burger King and Taco Bell locations across Canada. This includes delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest industry standards while leveraging technology to enhance efficiency.
The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable in QSR or multi-unit retail construction, with expertise in development processes, vendor coordination, and regulatory compliance. They will oversee the entire construction project lifecycle, ensuring seamless coordination between Operations, General Contractors, Architects, and Vendors.
Additionally, the CPM will play a key role in adopting and integrating digital tools to streamline workflows, track project progress, and optimize costs. This position requires a blend of hands-on construction experience and tech-savviness to support the company's continued growth and operational excellence.
SCOPE AND MAGNITUDE :
Soul Restaurants operates 224+ locations across Canada, with a strong presence in Ontario. The Construction Project Manager (CPM) will be responsible for managing multiple remodels and new builds simultaneously, ensuring compliance with corporate, franchisor, and regulatory requirements.
As Soul Restaurants continues to scale, the CPM will play a crucial role in optimizing construction workflows by integrating digital tools, data-driven reporting, and process improvements. They will work closely with internal teams (Operations, Finance, IT) and external partners (General Contractors, Architects, and Vendors) to ensure seamless execution across all projects.
POSITION FUNCTIONS :
Project Management (remodeling of existing units and new units)
- Oversee the end-to-end execution of remodel and new build projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery through collaboration with General Contractors, Architects, Vendors, and Internal Teams.
- Leverage digital project management tools to track project progress, manage schedules, and monitor procurement workflows.
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, IT & HR to ensure alignment and seamless integration of new stores into ongoing business operations.
- Liaise with franchisor design and construction teams, external architects and other professionals, and the Soul Brand Operations leadership teams to validate and align on construction plans and project scopes.
- Direct all phases of construction management, including due diligence, scheduling, budgeting, planning, and execution, while leveraging technology to enhance visibility and efficiency.
- Prepare and track project budgets using financial tracking tools and dashboards, ensuring costs are reviewed at each stage and risks are identified proactively.
- Support the franchisor-approved vendor and equipment procurement process, ensuring timely ordering, delivery, and installation of store fixtures and equipment through structured digital tracking.
- Manage construction administration, including contract negotiations, change orders, purchase order tracking, invoicing, and project closeout documentation, ensuring data is centralized and easily accessible.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with all stakeholders, providing regular updates through structured reporting and dashboards.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization, reducing time and cost inefficiencies through technology-driven workflows and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all projects comply with legal, regulatory (government), and franchisor construction requirements, with digital documentation tracking to maintain compliance records efficiently.
