Position Title: Journeyperson Welder

Role Type: Permanent/ Local Position (Non-Camp/Non-FIFO)

Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta

Work Schedule: 7 on, 7 off; 12-hour day and night shifts

What I will be doing?
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.

  • Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal pieces using processes such as gas tungsten arc (TIG or GTAW), gas metal arc (MIG or GMAW), flux-cored arc (FAW), plasma arc (PAW), shielded metal arc (SMAW), oxy-acetylene (OAW).

  • Operate flame-cutting equipment, and metal shaping machines.

  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.

  • Operate setup welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts.

  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of welding, brazing and soldering equipment.

  • Welding/gouging in all positions.

  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Physically fit to perform all duties of the job including but not limited to heavy lifting, bending, working in confined spaces or working from heights, etc.

What does Acden need from me?
  • Alberta Certified Journeyperson Welder (or Interprovincial Red Seal) with the ability to provide credentials of trade prior to the interview stage is required.

  • Minimum One (1) to Five (5) years of experience in the Welding trade is required.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is required.

  • Clearance on drug, alcohol, hearing and physical abilities pre-employment testing is required.

  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or equivalent (or ability to obtain pre-hire) is required.

What are the "nice to haves"?
  • Heavy Equipment repair experience on Mining Mobile Equipment is an asset.

  • FCAW, GMAW CWB certified is an asset.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience structural welding is an asset.

  • EWP and fall protection tickets are assets.

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is a preference.
