Unit Summary
Located at the Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre and housed within the Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) family, McMaster Children’s Hospital’s Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation Program is a diverse team serving the Hamilton and surrounding region. Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation (DPR) is an interdisciplinary program that provides services primarily to children and youth with developmental, behavioural, physical, or communication needs.

Position Summary
The Clinical Specialist is a key role within DPR. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Project Coordinator to implement the Learning Health System (LHS) with primary responsibility for clinical functions. The Clinical Specialist applies advanced knowledge and decision making skills for facilitation of seamless access to service by assessing child and family functioning, identifying needs and supporting internal and external referrals at intake. The Clinical Specialist will support integration of patient and family services, and bridge multidisciplinary teams at Ron Joyce Children's Health Centre through a critical lens based on clinical formulation and research data. The Clinical Specialist clinically coordinates care and supervises the completion of clinical interviews and assessments as needed and will co-lead the implementation of evaluation and integrated knowledge translation plans.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday; days. Evenings and weekends as required.
This is a temporary role until March 2026.
Qualifications
1. Master’s Degree in a related specialty or health care field beyond entry-level allied health
2. Extensive experience working in multidisciplinary teams and knowledge of hospital and community-based supports for individuals with Neurodevelopmental Disorders
3. At least five years of clinical supervisory experience
4. Expertise in conducting research and experience in evidence-based assessment and intervention modalities for individuals with Neurodevelopmental Disorders
5. Current registration with the appropriate regulatory body
6. Demonstrated ability to foster collegial relationships within and amongst teams
7. Expertise in research methodology and conducts practice-based research
8. Demonstrated expert abilities as a communicator and collaborator
9. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of community services and resources
10. Demonstrated leadership performance by acting as a positive role model, advocate, resource, facilitator, and coordinator
11. Works well independently and as a team player
12. Proven ability to identify best practices in processes related to health care and implement change related to best practice
13. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning
14. Eligible for faculty appointment within relevant health-professional school at McMaster University
